What: Portland House c1870 is a gorgeous gentleman’s residence. This TripAdvisor ‘Excellent’ rated house features 12 bedrooms, as well your very own bar room for intimate weddings of up to 24 guests. You can keep your guests in check with the ‘Downton Abbey’ servant bells and organise your intimate wedding just as you’d like it.
Where: Perfectly positioned on the edge of Matlock Bath in the Peak District. With breathtaking views of ‘little Switzerland’ outside, you’ll want to make this wonderful wedding break last as long as possible.
Weddings: Not licenced – yet. But a wonderful venue for a weekend wedding with lots of beautiful places to marry nearby.

What: A lovely lawn next to a small lake both perched on the edge of a wide rolling green vista. Lots of space for your own marquee or Tipi, or the venue can organise one for you. The Medieval manor house lies behind you.

Where: Set in quintessential English parkland, about 3 minutes from junction 19 of the M6.
What: A Georgian mansion overlooking a rural scene, with lakes, trees, sheep and more green.
Weddings: You can get married in one of two rooms and have your drinks and canapés in the Portico Room, or on the steps, or on the front lawn. You can then eat in your own marquee across the fields. No restrictions on who you use for catering either.

Where: In a lush valley just west of Welshpool.
What: A wonderful, newly renovated mansion built in 1859, with 10 bedrooms, including a stunning bridal suite. There is even a boat you can use on the lake, a stunning walled garden and a cellar bar. You get exclusive use of the whole place for the weekend.
Weddings: The venue features several locations which are licensed for weddings.

What: A Regency hall from 1822. A true country retreat with open fires, a hot-tub, woods, parkland etc.. There are 5 amazing bedrooms you can use including the astounding bridal suite. All the en-suite showers have digital entertainment, and the bride’s bathroom has a double shower AND a bath with an in-built TV!! Astounding quality and sumptuous good taste.

Where: The Leicestershire/Derbyshire border in a low valley next to a sweeping surpentine lake.
What: A completely magical juxtaposition of Medieval Church (now National Trust), lake, 18th Century bridge and perfect stately pink pile overlooking sweeping lawns, crunchy gravel drives. Inside the house there are several spaces you can use, with an imposing entrance hall, lovely dining room and a library. The fully-equipped kitchen is great for us too. PLUS the friendliest, most helpful coordinators to help smooth the day.
Weddings: The first floor saloon is licensed for weddings, as the Church is not available.

Where: In undulating countryside under the watchful eye of Breedon Church with its famous Viking sculpture, perched high and visible for miles.

Where: In open parkland within a loop of the River Sow, on the southern edge of Cannock Chase and all just 7 miles from Stafford.
What: A huge house (formerly Patrick Lichfield’s place) with the most incredible assemblage of classically-inspired 18th century monuments, perfectly set in open parkland.
Weddings: Two rooms are licensed for weddings. There are no reception facilities but Shugborough allow you to build your own marquee or Tipi on the lawns and then use your own caterers for a magical wedding far from the 21st century.
