What do the words ‘village hall’ suggest to you?
For most, (including me) the typical village hall brings to mind a vision of summer fayres, Girl Guides and nativity plays with the looming scent of digestive biscuits… these days, this just isn’t the case.
Although some still match the stereotype of worn wooden cladding and leaky flat roofs, a considerable number have moved with the times and are actually brand new, modern and are exceptionally useful spaces, thanks in a big part to lottery funding.
So, forget the cliché and let’s dive into celebrating your wedding at one of these venues…
Cost
Probably the most important factor for most people. A village hall can save you thousands when compared with hiring a hotel or commercial venue. This saving can be diverted into FOOD!
You’ll then save on corkage as you can serve your own wine and Champagne.
They have power (no need for a generator), toilets (no hire fees for portaloos), furniture (tables cost a lot to hire in) and parking (your guests won’t get stuck in marquee mud). Many also have commercial kitchens for your lovely caterer to use (us)!
Flexibility
Commercial venues like to tie you into their packages, so you have no choice on which caterer is used, the entertainment or where your wine is sourced. Independent venues such as village halls don’t force this, so you can choose all the elements you want.
Décor
The interior of most village halls tend to be quite neutral, allowing you to dress the space. Hire a professional venue dresser and they can transform the space around your theme.
