With each new year comes new wedding trends! Some things will stay the same, but there are a lot of green changes this year. These are our predictions for 2019 wedding trends…
1. Eco-friendly
2018 was a real jump-start for the rise of eco-friendly products. You may be familiar with terms such as ‘zero-waste’ or ‘single-use’, with the support most-recently from Princess Eugenie hosting a completely plastic-free wedding in October last year. Even if it’s a small act of having paper straws or using bio-degradable petal confetti (Shropshire petals produce a huge selection of sustainably sourced flowers that they dry themselves!) we’re completely behind this trend.
2. Vegan/vegetarian menus
Fitting hand in hand with the ethically sourced movement is the dramatic rise in vegetarianism and veganism. Gone are the days of a vegan or veggie OPTION, 2019 will see many ALL vegan and vegetarian weddings. For meat eaters, the thought of having a meatless menu might make you turn your nose up, but there is no need to compromise on flavour! At Kemp and Kemp we have plenty of brilliantly yummy meatless and plant-based menu ideas that you can take a look at here:

3. Relaxed hen do’s
When you imagine a hen do, the mind usually wanders to an image of pink, fluffy feather boas but you’ll be pleased to know that people are straying away from the wild parties and instead, going for a more relaxed approach. Expect to see spa days, countryside getaways and nights in as the 2019 wedding trends.
4. Grazing tables
Heading back to the wedding menu, we are excited that grazing platters and dessert tables aren’t going anywhere! People seem to prefer ‘grab your own’ rather than a formal sit-down meal – and any picky eaters you might have can stick to what they know and love. Grazing platters create an intimate and homely atmosphere, so if you’re planning on a family style ambience you should be considering this type of menu.
5. Experimental entertainment
People know that photobooths, although fun, are seriously overdone and they are in search of more experimental entertainment for their guests. A caricaturist is a brilliant option if you’re looking for entertainment that doubles as a wedding favour; they’re certain to get plenty of laughs and your guests get to take them home as a permanent souvenir.
Whether you plan on following the 2019 wedding trends or doing your own thing on your big day, Independent Weddings has plenty of amazing venues and suppliers that will be happy to help you make your vision a reality.
